Consultation and Supervision for Professional Growth

As a mental health provider for over 20 years, I am committed to providing high-quality consultation and supervision services to support the professional growth and development of therapists in the field. My journey began in Taiwan, where I studied Chinese culture and language and later pursued a career in mental health in the United States. This unique blend of cultural understanding and clinical expertise has allowed me to support clients from diverse backgrounds effectively. I aim to assisting therapists in honing their clinical skills, deepening their theoretical knowledge, and navigating the complexities of the therapeutic process. Most importantly, I strive to assist you in developing your unique clinical style and finding your personal niche in clinical services.

My consultation and supervision services are tailored to meet the individual needs of therapists at various stages of their careers and designed to create a dynamic learning environment. More than that, they are delivered in a supportive and collaborative manner, aiming to encourage and motivate therapists as they explore challenges, gain insight, and cultivate confidence in their clinical work.

My commitment to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards, as governed by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), ensures that my supervision services adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts licensing boards. This unwavering commitment is a cornerstone of my practice, providing you with a secure and confident foundation for your professional development.

Throughout the years, I have offered supervision and mentoring in the training programs, clinicians-in-training or newly licensed, and consultation for the clinicians who need support in multicultural perspectives.

General Supervision

My supervision and consultation model assists the clinician in transforming from stuck to opportunity. My training and supervision experiences have opened my eyes to see how a clinician’s attachment style might have impacted their clinical practice. For example, I am a person with an anxious attachment style, and therefore, I often tend to rescue clients when they are in pain. When clients avoid emotions, I get frustrated or doubt my ability.

Throughout the years, I have utilized individual and group supervision to help me grow into my therapy style and refine my clinical skills. I offer individual and group supervision for clinician-in-training or independently licensed clinician who wishes to use clinical supervision to

Consultation

Consultant for Multicultural Counseling

As an immigrant from Taiwan and a relational therapist, many clients from Asian cultures often approached me for individual or couple therapy. In addition, many Asian Americans whose parents immigrated from Asia also wish to find an Asian therapist who can understand their struggles in their American upbringing with Asian expectations.

I have integrated my Chinese Culture education (I was a Chinese Literature Major!) and my counseling training to help Asian clients resolve their conflicted feelings from two different cultures and, as a result, find a comfortable relationship with their parents, partners, and themselves as Asian Americans.

In the consultation and supervision groups or continuing education training, I have heard many colleagues say, “Oh, wow, that does make sense now that you explained the cultural aspect and expectations to me.”

“As a therapist, I am a companion. I try to help people tune into their own wisdom.”
~ Virginia Satir

I offer individual and group consultation to a non-Asian therapist who wishes to use the consultation to:

01

Understand the nuances of Asian history and cultural expectations of individual behaviors.

02

Decipher the differences between the Asian and US cultures and the impact on attachment development and parent-child relationship

03

Sensitive to cultural expectations while facilitating Asian clients’ psychological growth

Fees

  • Group consultation, $50/hr for 3 people
  • Individual consultation: $150/hr
